Why is a quality management system needed?

The purpose of quality management is to ensure that health care providers are receiving high quality care that is directly related to patient care and patient safety. Quality management is all about the quality and safety of your product, practice or service. The need for an internal quality management system has it’s own value. Quality is also about patient safety. For a life-science company, it’s an essential component in creating a high quality product or healthcare service. Patients and families must be able to receive high quality care at all times and for all health care services.

Tips for Implementing a Good Quality Management System (gQMS)

There are several questions, one can ask with respect to the point of healthcare. For example, How can you ensure your practices or hospitals are operating as high quality institutions? How can you ensure people in your organization or team are performing to the highest standards? How can you ensure all health care services function optimally?

Quality management systems, where they belong, are essential to creating high quality health care.

There are two parts:

  1. First, is the part about creating a quality management system.
  2. Second, you have to make sure it is actually being maintained in all areas.

When deciding whether to have an internal quality management system, many people believe that a quality management system will save time and money. They believe that the process will just be easier for their business. The truth is that quality management is easier if an organization is just interested in a certification. But this is not sustainable if an organization need to grow and remain profitable.

An organization should strive to creating a quality management system that is implemented with true spirit and sustainable. It makes sense, if you put employees that are trained in quality management in the positions where they add value to the process. In the majority of the organizations, employees trained in the QMS are appointed to the positions that are either irrelevant to their job description or add insignificant benefit to the process. It can take quite a bit of time to ensure that your staff are trained sufficiently and placed at right position in the process. In this way, resources are well spent and benefit is evident.
